Candy Floss
Autumn came again too fast
On the low road -the nowhere road
A year past, I saw death
I felt the shortening of my breath
I ran,
left you for dead.
Hopes, wishes, feelings, friends
all left by the roadside,
or took another turning
In the mirrors cracks
I see death behind me
I felt its hands inside me
I look around me; no-one, nowhere.
It's close now,
but it doesn't quite happen
I see you before me
Yet you're not quite there
I pour it out for you, call you
dizzy and reeling
I reach for you,
candy floss.
