Hiya all, few, many.
I eventually got to see Cirque and they were excellent!
The show was about two hours long, but it went past so fast. I even got flirted with by a rabbit...ok, end of that bit there. The show really was great, and my only complaint is that I would of liked to watch it again from further back, because there is just so much going on.
For example, there's this girl doing back flips and spinny things on a rope swing fifty feet up, a woman spinning (who has been doing so for five minutes), and three amazingly well designed clowns running around the stage
all at the same time More than once did I hear clapping and look up to totally miss whatever said person was doing.
Not really much of a complaint. excellent show, but these circus performer really do like to flash their pants, don't they? ^.^
Next up, I'm going to see Bat for Lashes. They play in Newcastle April 9th. It's either that or Simply Red.
Hmm. Hard choice. I'd best not think about it. Ever.
Anyway, I
missed Priscilla Ahn at the Sage. How could I let that happen? XD But don't worry, I won't be investing in skinny jeans soon. I just like a couple of singers, that is all.
Here's a poem by Brian Patten, whom I've been greatly admiring recently.
It's the Vanishing trick. Familiar echoes. It's here for K, it's here for Tink, I think. All those loving one but getting three, two of which don't approve of the relationship and making all the decisions, one of which has their eye elsewhere, making all the calls.
You can stop reading now if you don't like poetry. No pictures. All goes dark.
Vanishing TrickBrian PattenYour back is long and perfect, it is clear.
It moves away from me, it moves away, I watch it going.
In the morning I watch you gather up
longings mistakenly scattered.
I watch you gather up your face, your body,
watch till another creature walks about,
dressed and impatient.
You contained all there need be of love,
all there need be of jubilance and laughter you contained it.
And now you are its opposite,
you talk of going as if going were the smallest matter.
There do not have to be reasons for such changes,
there do not have to be.
In the morning bodies evaporate and nothing
can quite hold them together.
Suddenly everything changes.
Less than a second passes and nothing's the same.
Something that clung a moment ago lets go as if
all its clinging meant nothing.
Now in the bathroom the razors wait like a line of little
friends,
they glow as much as roses.
they glow, glow with pain, with their own electricity,
they glow with darkness.
When you have gone they will turn their heads in my
direction.
Inquisitive and eager they will welcome me,
but I will not listen,
I will try your vanishing trick and manage,
I will manage to feel nothingHo hum, Rabbits on scooters.
