When the plants have all been watered
And the leaves swept neatly to the street
When the paint has dried on every railing
And the iron has vanquished every
Crease
When the china stands in cupboards
Neatly
The socks are rolled up,
The t-shirts straight
When the day is almost done
Completely
When you've flushed the chimney
And fixed the gate
Maybe when your learning's finished
And when your friends won't keep you up so
Late
And when your sudden cold, diminished
Leaves you in an agreeable state
Possibly When you've saved all the tigers
Emancipated from London Zoo
When you've been through every major city
And of the minor, quite a few
Maybe when you've done a tour
And Rolling Stone are on the phone
When you have to refuse that second grammy
Because you really have no room at home
Perhaps when you have cured cancer,
The common cold, The avian flu
Then established peace in every country
And turned every oil choked water blue
Maybe when you efficiently redesign the minute
And remove all effort from the mile
Then take the countries defecit and fill it
And bring understanding back into style
Maybe when you slow the sun down
To warm it up a bit in space
Define what life is, and what it isn't
And illuminate the human race.
